- Uluru rises 348 m above the surrounding plain and is about 9.4 km around. The base walk is a 10.6 km loop, about 3.5 hours, grade 3, starting at the Mala carpark.
- Mala walk: 2 km return, 1.5 hours, to Kantju Gorge. Ranger-guided Mala walk daily at 8 am (October to April) and 10 am (May to September), included with the park pass.
- Kuniya walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole: 1 km return. Lungkata walk: south side, close to the rock. North-east walk: 4.4 km, the most open stretch.
- Kata Tjuta: 36 domes, the tallest 546 m above the plain. Valley of the Winds: 7.4 km circuit, about 4 hours, grade 4; Walpa Gorge 2.6 km return.
- Heat: carry and drink at least 1 litre of water per person per hour. The Valley of the Winds closes beyond Karu Lookout from 11 am when the forecast or actual temperature is 36 C or above.
- The Uluru climb closed permanently on 26 October 2019, 34 years after the handback of 26 October 1985. Climbing is an offence under the EPBC Act.
- A park pass is required for everyone 18 and over (online or at the entry station, 3 days). No drones, pets, camping or swimming in the park; no photos at signed sensitive sites.

- You do not need a tour to walk around Uluru: the base walk is flat, signed and has water stations. A tour adds transport, sunrise and the stories.
- There is no public transport or taxi service at Uluru; without a hire car you need a tour or the Hop On Hop Off shuttle pass.
- The Uluru climb is closed permanently (since 26 October 2019); it will not reopen.
- Touching the rock along open tracks is allowed; photos are not allowed at signed sensitive sites.
